| The Search Process |
|
Woodward Park Baptist Church of Fresno has called
Rev. David Carothers as Senior Pastor. He comes to Fresno from
Twin Cities Church in Grass Valley, CA, where he served for the last
fourteen years in associate pastoral roles. David and his wife,
Joanie, have four children ranging in age from 6 to 13. David’s
expresses a clear call to “love, listen to, and lead the Woodard
Park team.” David was educated at Pepperdine University with a
business degree. He received his theological training at
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, TX. Prior
to serving in Grass Valley, David served churches in inner city
Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Fort Worth. David begins his service
at Woodward Park on January 1, 2010 to lead the congregation to
transform lives into loving Christians who reach their world. We
are grateful to God for His clear leadership throughout this search
process.

| September 22, 2009 |
We are currently working with one
candidate that we unanimously believe God has directed us to
consider. The candidate is still committed to working with us. We
are confident that this candidate fully meets the profile we
developed. He is currently ministering at another church in
California, where he has been faithfully serving for over 14 years.
We anticipate presenting the candidate to the congregation in late
October. |
| April 21, 2009 |
The PSC is down to five potential
candidates which we will work with one at a time. |
| January 15, 2009 |
The PSC is grateful for all who sent
referrals to us. We have about 200 resumes in hand. This month we
are screening the resumes and developing a pool of 5-10 potential
candidates. When that task is complete, we will begin a more
detailed screening process on the short list of potential
candidates. |
| November 19, 2008 |
The church profile has been posted and
the that PSC is actively seeking referrals for potential candidates. |
| October 27, 2008 |
The PSC has posted the Pastor Profile
on the website. We expect to post the Church/Community Profile next
week. We are now actively seeking prospective candidates from
various sources. We will be receiving recommendations through
December 31, 2008. In January, we will begin screening candidates. |
| September 29, 2008 |
As part of their effort to develop the
pastor profile, the PSC met with the church, staff and Leadership
Team for a listening session. We expect to have the pastor profile
complete by the middle of October. At that time, we will begin the
process of seeking potential candidates. |
| September 21, 2008 |
PSC hosted a congregational forum to listen to
receive input from church members about the pastor profile and to
inform the congregation about the search process. |
| September 3, 2008 |
The full PSC and their spouses met together to spend
time in prayer and fellowship at the Deck home. |
| August 19, 2008 |
The PSC met for a two hour training and orientation
session let by Mike McGuffee, Leadership Specialist of the
California Southern Baptist Convention. |
| August 17, 2008 |
The congregation elected the Pastor Search Committee. The PSC
met that same evening to pray and begin organizing themselves
